A few posts ago, I wrote to you about some tips that could help you bring out the handyman in you. As an extension to that topic, today I will be sharing with you 5 DIY home repair tips and tricks of different difficulty variations that can make a huge difference around your home.
Eliminate Squeaking Doors
Don’t you just hate that squeaking sound your bedroom door keeps making every time you open or close it? Well, the solution is quite simple: spray some cooking oil or rub some petroleum jelly on the hinges and the problem is solved! Be sure to use a rag to catch any drips.
Fix Stuck Windows
Is your sliding window giving you a hard time? Whether your window frame is metal, wood or plastic greasing it with some silicone spray lubricant should fix the problem. Just spray some on a rag and wipe it along the track and viola!
Stop Vibrating Washing Machines
Does your washing machine rock hard when in spin cycle? With some help, lift the machine slightly to take the weight off the front legs and turn the legs until the side of the washer is plumb. Tighten the locking nut up against the frame of the washing machine to keep the leg from turning. Apply the same process to the rear legs.
Patch Holes in Drywalls
Holes in walls are unavoidable. To fix a hole in your wall, all you need to do is clean the area of any debris and wipe down the wall then use a putty knife to press some spackle into the wall and let it dry. Use some fine grain sandpaper to sand it down until it’s flat. Depending on how seamless you need it to be and what color your wall is, you may need to follow up by applying a coat of paint.
Fix Leaking Pipes:
To fix a leaking pipe in your bathroom or kitchen, the first thing you need to do is turn off the water to the sink. Place a bucket underneath the pipe, and twist off the compression nuts. Once you’ve replaced the washer (or the entire P-trap if necessary), you can screw it back in and turn the water back on.
