Attention mommies, daddies and babysitters! Whether you are a babysitter looking for fun things to do while babysitting or you are a concerned parent who is leaving their child with a babysitter, this post is definitely a lifesaver written just for you!
In efforts to make the babysitting experience more rewarding and exciting for both the babysitter and the child, we will be sharing with you a list of fun activities while babysitting.
Please note that not all activities are for all ages, you need to pick and choose what is age appropriate for your child.
Read Some Books
My son loves reading books with me. I ask him to choose a few books that he likes and we sit and read them together. The more invested I am in reading, the happier he is. So make sure you let the child choose the books and enjoy reading it to him/her in a fun and interesting way and tone.
Kids love to pretend play. They can spend long stretches of time playing pretend with almost any toy or gadget if you know how to get them excited about it. Make up stories using their favorite toys or characters and allow them to use their imagination and make up their own stories as well.
Dance, Jump & Run
Children need and enjoy physical activity so put on some music and dance or jump around with the kids. You can even play catch around the house (if the parents approve of course).
Do Some Arts & Crafts
Although my son is not a huge fan, many kids just love arts and crafts! Give the kids some crayons and let them draw their favorite animal or make a rocket ship with them from scratch using a toilet cardboard roll and some paints and glue. You can also finger paint using edible materials from the fridge. The options here are endless!
Play with Play Dough
Using play dough made at home or ready bought at the bookshop, you can spend quite some time with the child making different shapes with play dough. Not only is it fun, but it is also good for developing their fine motor skills and their imagination as well.
Use the Big or the Little Screen
Spend some time with the child playing some interactive games on the iPad or watching a cartoon that the kid enjoys. This will help pass the time and keep the child and the babysitter entertained. Some parents might not be comfortable with their children playing on the iPad or watching TV, so check in advance to avoid any issues.
We hope you found our list useful and we promise to bring you more on babysitting very soon.
