How to Prepare Yourself for A Childcare Job Interview
Posted on by Beirut Abu Hdaib
Many parents can be very picky when it comes to choosing the right babysitter for their child, and they have every right to be. So, in order to prepare you for your next interview, here are some childcare interview tips you need to know.
Follow Proper Etiquette:
You should get to the interview either earlier than the appointment or at least on time. Never be late. Tardiness is never a good way to start your interview. Also, never invite someone to tag along to the interview, which could make the parents feel uncomfortable or uneasy.
Be Positive & Presentable:
First impressions count, so be sure to have your smile ready, a positive attitude and to look presentable by wearing something neat, clean and subtle. Do not chew gum during the interview and be sure to maintain eye contact.
Discuss Your Qualifications:
In order for parents to trust you in taking care of their child, they need to know your qualifications. Take your time and discuss your qualifications. If you have any resumes, recommendations or certifications, be sure you have them with you and that you share them with the parents.
Prepare Yourself for Questions:
Many parents will have a list of questions ready for you to answer during your interview. Be sure to be ready to answer them. The questions can be as simple as “Tell us about yourself” and more complex as “how do you handle an angry parent?”
Speak Clearly & Honestly:
When answering questions, speak clearly and do not mumble. Also, make sure you maintain a normal rate and tone. Moreover, always remember to never give false information.
Make it A Point to Follow Up:
Finally, make sure you follow up with the interviewer via email or phone after your interview in one or two days. This shows your interested in the position and that you care enough to show it.
