If you are a car owner like me, then you probably realize that keeping your car clean is as important and difficult as keeping your home clean. So, for today’s post, I will be sharing with you some fast cleaning tips that will help you clean your car and keep it spotless all year round.
Schedule Periodic Detailing
Your car needs TLC more often than you think. Make sure that you schedule your car to be washed every week to keep dirt from embedding itself in its top coat and try to have it waxed monthly to keep it shining and looking as good as new.
Use the Right Tools
When washing your car yourself, be sure to use the right tools and products for it. It useful to buy the following tools and products while placing emphasis on quality:
High pressure water hose
Specialized car wash brushes and dusters
Specialized car wash towels, pads and mitts
Paint-safe squeegees and wipers
Spray wheel cleaner
Wash the Tires & Wheels Last
Many people recommend washing the tires and wheels first but I beg to differ. I think the wheels and tires should be left for after the body is washed and dried in order to avoid getting them dirty again. Be sure to clean one wheel at a time and thoroughly rinse and dry it after you are done.
Take Out Trash Regularly
It is important that you don’t turn your car into a dumpster. This is why you need to regularly throw away papers, food or other junk.
Know When to Wash Your Car
When you schedule a time for washing your car, make sure your car is in the shade and that its surface is relatively cool.
Take a few minutes to wipe down the engine, doorjambs and trunk. Regularly cleaning these will help you avoid bigger cleanup jobs in the future. Also, make sure you regularly shake out the floor mats and wipe down the dashboard and the center console.
Dry After Each Wash
After your car is rinsed and free of grease, dirt or oil, be sure to dry it using a 100% cotton drying towel as to avoid scratching the paint. Letting your car air-dry might cause unsightly watermarks on its exterior.
Finally, make sure you follow these tips for keeping your car clean between washes:
Try to avoid parking under trees
Try not to park your car under direct sunlight
Use a car duster every now and then to avoid dust from accumulating
